Wed 1 - Bad Wrap & Fish Pie

Yet another banana for brekkie, with a smoothie on the side.

It was freezing, so I didn't stray far from the office, which meant Pret on St Mary Axe.  The weather demanded I eat something warming, so I headed to the hot wrap section and settled on the 'Swedish Meatball Ragu' version.  It looked pretty grim upon opening it, the end was brown and crusty, the tomato chilli sauce congealed and darkened.  Being sat in a heated cabinet had not done any favours for the flour tortilla either.  Things improved marginally once I'd cut the end off, the sauce had a slight spike to it and the meatballs had some herbs amongst the not-so-great tasting pork mince.  There was melted gruyere, but it couldn't save this product, which at £4.25 is something I won't be buying again.

V cooked a fish pie for dinner, using cod cheeks and smoked haddock from Moxons, in a white sauce with parsley.  We had peas on the side.  The mashed potato wasn't firm enough so had melted into the sauce, making the whole thing quite sloppy.  It tasted still tasted good though, the cod cheeks worked well.  Some people use prawns or scallops in fish pie, but I think this just adds unnecessary expense to what should be a simple dish, and they often and up tough and overcooked anyway.

Brrrrrr.
